UN Apology Instead Of Action
When UN apologizes, it usually appears too little and too late, and comes instead of action that this organization should have taken.
Rwanda: United Nations Sorry for Genocide
THE United Nations has acknowledged its failure to quickly intervene as thousands of Rwandans were killed in 1994 genocide.
The world body said it regretted the mistakes that led to the loss of many innocent lives.
“The Rwandan genocide will haunt us as well as the world’s conscience for generations,” UN chief Ban Ki-moon told journalists on Tuesday during his visit to Kigali. He laid a wreath over a mass grave, where some 250,000 people were buried.
I completely disagree with Mr. Secretary General. I don’t think Kofi Annan and Madlenne Albright (US secretary of State at the time of the events) are haunted by this genocide. These two are directly responsible for not stopping this horrible atrocity that took place in 1994.
He also took a swipe at other stakeholders for not playing their part to stem the genocide.
Like his predecessor, Kofi Annan, he says the UN, Security Council, member states and the international media did not pay enough attention to the gathering signs of disaster.
“The 1994 genocide shocked the consciences of the UN, and member Nations have learnt profound lessons from the incident,” Mr Ki-moon, who was head of UN peacekeeping at the time of the genocide, during which a million Tutsis and moderate Hutus were massacred in 100 days said.
Mr. Secretary General, you can’t wash your own hands off this, since you are among those who are responsible for it. I hope and pray that you and your predecessor will be brought to justice for this criminal negligence which cost Rwanda so many lives.
And I don’t think the world has learnt anything from it, just as it hasn’t learnt from the Armenian genocide that started in 1915 and the Holocaust during WW2. The world never does. Therefore, the only thing we can expect from the UN - United Useless Nations - is another apology after another genocide, mass murder or holocaust. I don’t think it’s worth paying billions to maintain this organization, since apologies and condemnations, but never a decisive action, are about the only two things it is capable of issuing. In my opinion, this is the most expensive apology the world ever paid for.
Women Protest Abduction In Afghanistan
I’ve always been saying that women in Muslim societies have a lot more guts and brains than than men.
More than 500 Afghan women demonstrate against female abduction
Kandahar (AsiaNews/Agencies) - More than 500 Afghan women have demonstrated in Kandahar, in southern Afghanistan, for the liberation of the American humanitarian worker Cyd Mizell, kidnapped on January 26 together with her driver, Abdul Hadi. The authorities say that no one has claimed responsibility and there are no suspects. The two were taken in Kandahar by a group of armed men.
Saturday’s protest was a courageous gesture in an Afghanistan where women are still waiting for the full recognition of their rights, above all if one takes into account the traditionalist, closed, and violent climate that reigns in the city, a former Taliban stronghold
Please notice - no single male joined them. I guess males over there specialize in burning effigies, tearing up flags and jumping like a bunch of rage monkeys when their religion is criticized.
No Western appeaser ranting about “occupation” and “why_can’t_we_all_leave_in_peace” has even a quarter of courage these women have.
If there is even a glimpse of hope for reconciliation between the West and the Muslim world, I believe it will come from the Muslim females who, along the history, demonstrated their independent thinking and unwillingness to submit, despite what their religion dictates.
Museum Buys Muhammad Cartoons
A new development in a neverending saga of Muhammad cartoons. This time the development is positive.
The Art Newspaper reports
Danish museum to buy Muhammad cartoons which sparked global riots
The Museum of Danish Cartoon Art in Copenhagen is planning to buy the 12 caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad which sparked global riots when they were published in European newspapers. More than 50 people died in the violence which followed.
“We hope we can secure all of the works to preserve them for the future. The caricatures have become a part of Danish history,” Royal Library spokesperson Jytte Kjaergaard told The Art Newspaper. She would not disclose whether the museum, part of Denmark’s national Royal Library, intends to put the cartoons on display.
However, the Danish Media Museum in Odense told The Art Newspaper it would like to show the works in an exhibition about freedom of expression. “If the library acquires them, we would like to show them together with media reports about the publication and the protests against it,” Ervin Nielsen, director of the Media Museum, said. He added that he is not worried the exhibition might provoke new protests. “As we would document the incidents around the publication and not simply show the works, I do not expect strong reactions. We do not want to provoke, but inform,” he explained.
…
The Museum of Danish Cartoon Art is in talks with several of the artists who produced the drawings, but an agreement has not yet been reached. “We have generally agreed that we want a museum to have the works, but everyone still has to take a final decision for himself,” Claus Seidel, one of the cartoonists and head of the Danish cartoonists’ association, told The Art Newspaper.“Nobody wants to make a lot of money, some of us are even willing to donate the works,” he said. One work was sold shortly after it was published. The artist donated the money to charity.
I guess this is another point that proves that the riots these cartoons provoked in the Muslim societies in Europe, North Africa and Middle East were counterproductive.
Muhammad cartoons, a museum item, will serve as an eternal mark and shame-stamp on the forehead of those Muslims who took part in the riots and demonstrated their intolerance, hatred and inability to understand the values democratic societies are built upon.
Genocide In Rwanda - France Knew?
The following report was published earlier on today by Rwanda News Agency. If the findings of this report are found true, this is one of the most disturbing cases of criminal negligence in the modern history.
French Army And Genocide - Documents That Remains Secret to This Day
Here are some excerpts from the report:
RNA can exclusively reveal that it has gotten hold of secret French Ministry of Defence memorandum that the French Parliamentary Mission of Information for Rwanda, in charge of examining French policy on Rwanda from 1990 to 1994, did not deem worth making public.
RNA correspondent in France Mr. Serge Farnel, who acquired the two documents, says they show that the French military and political establishment ensured the media was kept in the dark, and knew that the massacres targeting Tutsis were bound to take place anyway.
One document states the concern of the Army of not showing the media French soldiers avoiding any intervention to stop the mass slaughter to which they are close witnesses. The other document shows evidence that the French Army knew, as early as April 8 1994, that these massacres in Kigali were targeting the Tutsis.
The document that Mr Farnel brought up to us is memorandum n° 018/3°RPIMa/EM/CD (filed secret), that Henri Poncet, a French Colonel, sent on April 27, 1994 to the army CNC.
In this document, Col. Poncet gives a written account of the “Amaryllis Operation”, that he commanded in Rwanda from April 9 to April 14 1994. The operation was intended to evacuate French nationals then present in Kigali, after the murder, three days earlier, of the president of Rwanda, Juvenal Habyarimana.
…
The RNA correspondent says that in the memorandum, Colonel Poncet mentions the other “permanent concern not to show them (the media) the French soldiers not intervening to put an end to the massacres to which they were the close witnesses.”
…
But another account written on April 19 1994, by Col. Cussac and Lt. Col. Maurin, concerning “the action of the MTAs (Military Technical Assistants) during operation Amaryllis lets us know that the French Army knew, at least as early as April 8 1994, that the Kigali massacres targeted the Tutsis”.Both French officers indeed described the night of April 7 to April 8 as: “a very restless night, punctuated by lots of shooting at the NCD (National Council for Development - Rwandan Parliament) but also throughout the whole town - executions of Tutsi (sic), and of personalities of the opposition”.
I wonder when Kofi Annan (this criminal who is now in Kenya, trying to broker agreement between the government and the opposition in order to calm the riots that grew even bigger and claimed more lives since he arrived) and Madeleine Albright - two people who know about the Genocide that is about to take place in Rwanda back in 1994, and did not want to act - will be brought to justice?

Family Values
Being a Muslim female in the Middle East - as awkward as it might sound - this alone can get your life in danger. Being Jewish or Christian woman is generally safer.
Teenage girl strangled in ‘honour killing’
Jordan: A 17-year-old girl died after being strangled to death by her brother in a Palestinian refugee camp near the Jordanian town of Jerash .
He was apparently angered by her absence from home.
The woman, who had been married for eight months, was accused of shaming her family and killed in a so-called “honour” crime.
And this is a reported case - one among so many that are left unreported when teenage girls as well as grown women are being murdered by their family members all over the Middle East.
This is the second murder of its kind in a month.
A Jordanian prosecutor has charged the victim’s brother, a 20-year-old man, with premeditated murder.
Local newspapers reported that he had stuffed a scarf in his sister’s mouth, choked her with an electric cable and smoked a pack of cigarettes before turning himself in.
At least this one gets prosecuted…
They’re Scared…VERY SCARED!
Hysteria taking over some Middle-Eastern leaders sometimes drives them into making ridiculous statements, even if they are made over serious issues their nations face.
Gulf Arabs ‘lazy’ and ’spoilt’, blasts minister
A Bahraini minister has warned of an “Asian tsunami” because of the reliance of “lazy” Gulf Arabs on foreign labor to carry out even the simplest tasks, in an interview published on Sunday.
Lazy Gulf Arabs…If a Jews, or a Hindu, or a Christian made this statement, what do you think he/she would be branded as?
But that is not the only nonsense coming from the minister. He continues:
Labour Minister Majid Al-Alawi told Asharq Al-Awsat that the presence of almost 17 million foreign workers in the Gulf, mostly from the Asian sub-continent, represented “a danger worse than the atomic bomb or an Israeli attack”.
“I am not exaggerating that the number will reach almost 30 million in ten years from now,” he told the pan-Arab daily.
Israeli attack…on Bahrain…right…
Al-Alawi has called for the residency of foreign workers in the oil-rich Gulf states to be limited to six years.
Now that is a constructive statement. By the way, I wonder if this can be implemented in EU as well in order to deal with enormous influx of work-seeking immigrants.
Sick Practice

As published earlier on WD about the attempts made by Islamists in Malaysia to convert the dead to Islam and bury them according to Islamic tradition, it seems like this sick saga continues:
Malaysian opposition calls for end to ‘body-snatching’
In the most recent case, an elderly ethnic Chinese man was buried as a Muslim last week after his Buddhist family lost a battle with Islamic authorities who said he had converted.
…
Police seized the body of Gan Eng For, who died a week ago aged 74, after his oldest son - himself a Muslim convert - said he had switched to the religion last year.Other family members said Gan could not have converted because he was senile and paralysed after suffering two strokes.
“He could not even move his arms or talk,” his other son, 42-year-old Gan Hock Sin, said.
“It is shocking that Islamic authorities say he recited some Islamic words when he was being converted last year.”
The dispute came shortly after a court ordered a Christian woman’s body be returned to her family after Islamic authorities admitted she had not converted.
In many instances the row is decided by Islamic Sharia courts where non-Muslim family members argue that they do not get a fair hearing.
The cases have fed accusations over the growing “Islamisation” of Malaysia, where the population is dominated by Muslim Malays living alongside ethnic Chinese and Indian communities.
