Egypt is considered to be one of the moderate Arab Muslim countries, although it is known for jailing bloggers and journalists for criticizing its president, Mubarak.

Egyptian editor gets jail term over ‘indecent’ photo
Cairo: A newspaper editor in Egypt was sentenced has been sentenced to a year in jail for publishing a front-page “indecent” photograph of an Egyptian actress, court sources said.
Editor Hatem Mamdouh Mahran was also fined 20,000 Egyptian pounds ($3,600) and granted bail of 5,000 pounds. He said he would appeal the sentence.
The sources said Mahran’s Al Naba weekly newspaper had published a picture in January of actress Hala Sidky that prosecutors said “reveals a sensitive part” of her body.
Mahran said that the picture of the actress was a shot taken from her recent film and that the newspaper had neither taken the picture nor altered it.
